WHY WORDPRESS?

WHY WE USE WORDPRESS TO BUILD WEBSITES

People often ask us why we build websites using the WordPress content management system out of all the Content Management Systems & platforms out there. There are a lot of reasons why we favour WordPress above all the other available options so below I discuss the most important factors from our perspective.

WordPress Is Easy To Use

First of all, WordPress is so easy to use and has great functionality. In fact, WordPress was first created in May 2003 and has been going from strength to strength ever since.

It has the functionality to create numerous styles of websites such as blogs, business sites, and even shopping sites. Plus, it’s easy to set up on any domain using the cPanel of your hosting provider with just a couple of clicks.

Back in 2018, the developers of WordPress introduced the block editor, Gutenberg, and this has added fantastic new functionality that enables you to create amazing web pages and blog articles using a variety of different block styles including text, images, and columns.

WordPress Is Open Source

WordPress is open source which means its source code is openly visible to the public and can be modified on your own install of the software. This also means that there are thousands of developers right around the world who have created themes and plugins that can help extend the WordPress functionality without your developer having to code that functionality from scratch.

There are also numerous front-end editors that you can install on WordPress if you find that editing your content in the back end is too difficult. These allow you to edit all your pages, blogs, and articles with a visual editor so you know exactly what the page is going to look like once published.

WordPress Is Portable

Unlike some of the popular platforms that have emerged in recent years, your WordPress website is portable. What this means is that if you want to change hosting provider for whatever reason, your WordPress site can easily be moved to the new provider in a few simple steps.

You can’t do this with other platforms such as Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, or Webflow. If you set up a site on one of these platforms, you have to continue with them and cannot move your site away in the event that you have an issue or they increase their prices.

Search Engines Like Google Favour WordPress Sites

Historically, WordPress sites have ranked well when it comes to SEO. In fact, it’s really easy to optimise your site for SEO if you install one of the numerous plugins that can help you with this.

Basically, these plugins, like Yoast SEO, can help take the guesswork out of how you should optimise your content in order to rank higher in Google. This means that even if you’re not an SEO expert, you should be able to create SEO-optimised content by following the guidelines of whichever plugin you’re using.

IN SUMMARY

We use WordPress primarily because it’s a stable and easy-to-use content management system that has very extensive functionality. It’s open source and has numerous add-ons that make publishing content fast, easy, and secure. Check out our review of the best WordPress Hosting For Australia
